Extreme Link 1.5.1 Released

Posted by greg

Speaking of CisoPlus front ends, a week or two ago Quake returned with his all-purpose PSP tool for Windows — Extreme Link! As you may have guessed, Extreme Link 1.5.1 features support for kapoue3’s CisoPlus compressor. But that’s not all, there’s more! For one low payment of $0 you will also receive POPstation, DocMaker, and PNG Imager features — all used for achieving maximum PSX enjoyment! Wait! Download now and Extreme Link will act as a USBHostFS and NETHostFS front end too.

In all seriousness, this app includes a wide range of tools & options… Download and check it out for yourself. Kudos Quake.

At first I was a bit confused where to find the CisoPlus GUI; however, the screenshot below is worth a million words.

RemoteJoy — PSP “Video Out” via USB

Posted by greg

Update: DeMoN X has updated his RemoteJoy GUI to version 1.51:

  • Added full credits to TyRaNiD 2k6 for Remotejoy SDL and Schrade for batch files and script files, tutorial, and compiled binaries
  • Added killall batch to MyBase.Load
  • Accurate process checking of USBHost FS
  • Added mode menu, Not completed.

Tyranid has released an astonishing update to his development tools RemoteJoy and PSPLink. Used in conjunction with this new GUI app from DeMoN X, Windows users will now have the ability to display their PSP screen on a PC’s monitor via USB, hence the loosely used term in this scenario, “Video Out.” (It’s not really a video output.)

All the necessary instructions to begin using this wig-splitting setup can be found within the RAR archive — ReadMe-LibUSB.txt & ReadMe-RemoteJoySDL.txt.

Couple things I should mention… 1) You’ll require Microsoft’s .NET Framework, and 2) if you’re not using Windows, but Linux instead, read this detailed tutorial.

Otherwise, rock on! Obviously some things remain flaky — certain games may not work, and you may experience the odd crash.

LeeSP v2.2 Released

Posted by greg

silverfox has updated LeeSP to v2.2 the other day. LeeSP is an exciting 2D fighting game focusing around two popular anime characters, Rock Lee and Gaara. LeeSP supports single and multiplayer (two persons on a single PSP) modes. Unfortunately networked multiplayer (Ad Hoc or Infrastructure) is not supported. Nevertheless, it’s quite enjoyable — with or without a friend.

Version 2.2 introduces new characters, stadiums, and attack moves. And of course a wide range of bug fixes. Share your feedback and constructive criticisms below. Nice work, dude.

piKey v0.3 Released — 3.30/3.40 OE Support

Posted by greg

I was anxiously awaiting the release of a piKey update, and thanks to Bob Joe (for the news tip) I’m now updating my PSP as I write this… piKey 0.3, oh yes! Now supporting firmwares 3.30 and 3.40 OE. Fanjita also mentions piKey 0.3 includes small enhancements to deal with compatibility issues.

There are 2 main changes for compatibility:

  1. You can configure πKey to be disabled for v1.50 kernel homebrew (ie. homebrew running from the GAME150 folder, or GAME if you have OE configured to run GAME as v1.50). This may be easier for some users than changing the config in flash.
  2. You can configure a hotkey that will disable πKey when the PSP reboots. So, if there’s a homebrew or game that has problems, just hold down the hotkey (configurable as any key or combination, but SELECT by default) while the Sony logo is showing, and πKey will unload itself until next rebooted.

Huh, what’s piKey?

A keyboard driver for the PSP developed by Fanjita and harleyg. piKey aims at providing full keyboard control anywhere — games, homebrews, the XMB, etc… Supported are various infra-red keyboards and the ability to wire one via the PSP’s serial port (the headphone socket). Have a look at the included user guide (docs/user_guide.html) to get started.
