Bad ISPs

Here's a list of Internet service providers (ISPs) that are known to cause trouble for BitTorrent clients or P2P in general and the reason why. If you are using one consider finding a new, better one. If your ISP is not on the list come to the IRC channel and tell the OPs, they can add it. One of the biggest problems are providers that that perform traffic shaping on P2P protocols, see Avoid traffic shaping how to counter that. You'll need that if your ISP is listed with an encryption level greater than 0 or a question mark.

• Note 1: This information is hard to verify and thus only tentative
• Note 2: Enabling Tools -> Options -> Transfer -> Use lazy bitfield will probably help, try encryption otherwise
• Note 3: Download .torrents in .zip files, via HTTPS or use magnet links instead
• Note 4: Resnets have no common governing body and hence have different policies on filesharing, the listed problems are those that are most frequently reported by Azureus users from different networks.
• Note 5: Appears to be blocking default port range; be sure to select a port in the 50,000s.
