Standard for uploads

Surley there must be a standard (or at least guidelines) everyone must work to when uploading an album cover image such as size and image scan rate? I can not see one. As I-tunes has now the option of full screen album cover flow, poor standard scans will look even worse.

Any guideance appreciated.

From the uploads we've received so far, the most common problems that resulted in deletion where:
  1. Incomplete/wrong details about the title uploaded - mainly with movies uploads where there are more fields to fill in than music. We try to focus on this site on quality rather then quantity and believe the extra 20 seconds each uploader will invest in filling in all the correct details will result in better experience for everyone. Specifically for movies we have the following fields:
    - Edition: (regular, unrated, director's edition and collector's edition). You can easily determine the edition by looking at the front cover - it's usually written clearly in at the top (if nothing is written then it's the regular edition which is the default choice)
    - Picture Format: (any, widescreen, fullscreen). This can also be easily determined by looking at the front cover where it will be written at the top (if nothing is written than it default to Any)
    - Region: (0-6). This one is very important because various regions of the same title will usually have a totally different design. For a better explanation about regions and how they can be identified have a look at this link - usually it's a small square at the back or cd with a number inside. Needless to say that mixing covers from different regions will result in deletion of all of them. If (and only if) there is no region, please choose region 0 which is the default.
    - Language. If the language on the cover or the title name itself is not written in English, when uploading enter the English title name and in this field choose the actual language that appears on the cover. Once changed from the default (English) another field will open where you will be given an option to enter the title name in the cover's native language.
  2. Low quality covers - although we have several checks in place to ensure image quality, if you think your cover is not good enough to print, blurry or just in too low resolution (such as images taken from Amazon) please don't send it over. As a general rule of thumb, if you can clearly read the small print letters on the cover the quality is good enough.
  3. Covers with no front - all uploaded titles must have a front part present. Either as part of the upload or one that exists on the site when adding covers to an existing title.
Adrain is in the process of writing a full explaination of the rules for uploading but I've put these short guidelines for now.
